Welcome baby door sign

Last year I made a welcome baby door sign for my daughter. Yes, she was already one and yes this would've come in handy to hang on the hospital door, but what can ya do? This was something I wanted to make for awhile but never got around to it. My inspiration came from an adorable sign I saw hanging on someone else's hospital door after she was born (I know, I told you it took me awhile to get to it). I wish I took a picture of my inspiration, but alas, I did not and couldn't even recall exactly what it looked like. What I did remember is that it was painted. And I don't paint, at least not well enough to pull off something cute. So I used scrapbook paper, vinyl and even added some flowers I made on my sewing machine for a little extra pop and dimension.

I included all the vital stats- name, date and time of birth, length and weight plus I added the meaning of her name. I love how it turned out and it's not even hanging on her door!

A birthday tribute

A year ago my cousin had her first baby boy- the sweetest, smiley-est baby boy you've ever met- Logan Patrick. He brought them so much joy and completed their family. About 4.5 months ago he passed away unexpectedly. He would've turned one today and a couple weeks from now we would've celebrated his birthday with a super fun monkey party. Last Thanksgiving my cousin and I started talking about plans for his party- I was going to craft the decorations and help with the planning. Today is a sad day, particularly for his family. And I know that nothing I can say or do can take away the pain, all I or anyone of us can do is pray for this sweet family, particularly my cousin, his mom. On mother's day. So in honor of Logan's 1st birthday and in celebration of the life he did live and the joy he bestowed upon us who knew him, I've made a few things. Tributes to this very special day.

Gender reveal party

A great way to announce the gender of your soon-to-be bundle of joy is by having a party! It's way more fun than calling/texting/emailing the news and is on it's way to becoming a new trend. The paper crafts I made are the banner, centerpieces, pinwheels and water bottle labels. I found inspiration here and here -- while the 'waddle it be' and 'who will it bee' parties looked cute, I liked the simple blue vs. pink execution here and went with it. I used a combination of store bought items and those I already own to create all the crafts for the party.
I don't really have pregnancy cravings (this is my 3rd)
so I decided to go with little food, like I would do at
a baby shower. Going with the theme, I attempted to serve
everything on something either pink or blue

CARS birthday party

For my son's 4th birthday, we went with a CARS theme. This was his first birthday that I had a cutting machine, which makes homemade decorations much more efficient! Plus, personalized, homemade decor is way more fun than store bought, so I was excited to pull this party together for him.
I started with an invitation, then created a banner, door sign, centerpieces, cupcakes toppers and water bottle labels all coordinating together. I played on words by changing the World Grand Prix from CARS2 to the Will Grand Prix. He really liked that. :)
I filled the favor bags with lots of CARS goodies- puzzles, crayons, stamps, yo-yo's, fruit snacks and even a tree scent for the car (I think that was more for the parents) and a tag that said "thank you for coming"
I always have fun planning parties and challenging myself with new ideas and/or homemade items. Come back soon to see more of my parties!

Banners & party decor

I've made several banners for a few different occasions. They're always fun to create and make a great, personalized touch to events, especially when paired with other fun, matching, personalized decor. Over the next few days, I'll post decorations I've created for a few parties.

Back in March I received a request to help with baby shower decorations. Uhm, yea! First, I created an invitation around the nursery theme - aviator bear- so cute! Then I made a banner using the same inspiration and sent some star shapes for additional decorations.
